Fiona grew up on the Mornington Peninsula, and from a very young age knew that Midwifery was in her future.

Over her schooling career, the love of babies never changed, and every time the family visited another family member or friend in hospital, Fiona would drag all of them to see the babies in the nursery window.

2004-2006 saw Fiona complete her Bachelor of Midwifery through Monash University, and in the following year completed a Graduate year with Southern Health (now Monash Health).

Since 2007 Fiona has remained an ongoing employee with Monash Health, consolidating practice across all areas of pregnancy, birth and beyond, whilst also dipping her toe in management roles over the years.

2014 saw Fiona meet the love of her life, in partner Ben, moving to the hills and setting up life in Cockatoo, where she still resides today.

Less than 2 years later, Fiona and Ben welcomed their first son Lachlan into the world, through the Caseload program at Casey Hospital.

2019 saw their second son Jackson born under the care of the Caseload team again, completing their little family of four.

2021 saw Fiona complete the Prescribing for Midwives subject through Griffith University online, which enabled her to achieve her Midwifery Endorsement.

Fiona is now an Endorsed Midwife, with over 15 years experience across the midwifery continuum.

In late 2021 Fiona decided it was time to set up Intrinsic Midwifery, to provide holistic pregnancy and postnatal care to women, in their own homes, all whilst educating them & their families, and showing them the mighty power within every mother to be.

Intrinsic means ‘belonging naturally; essential’, and was chosen as the business name, as Fiona believes in women, and their innate ability to birth their own babies.

Jump forward to 2022 and Fiona now has, both a Provider and Prescriber number through medicare. This means that Fiona is therefore able to order relevant and requested screening and diagnostics tests throughout pregnancy, and into the postnatal period.

Fiona is now also a Shared Care Affiliate with Monash Health, making the hospital booking more steamline for those in Monash Health’s catchment.

My two cheeky boys.
