Intrinsic Midwifery is providing Antenatal and Postnatal Care to women and their families.
Servicing areas of Cardinia Shire, City of Casey, City of Greater Dandenong, Knox City Council and the Yarra Ranges Shire.
- Antenatal Care
Pregnancy care appointments provided throughout the antenatal period, in the comfort of your own home, with a booking to your local hospital for labour and birth.
Visits from early to late pregnancy, with scheduled visits and extras as required, including a birth planning visit.
Visits normally lasting 1-1.5 hours each & include:
- Assessment of Mum and Baby
- Pregnancy education
- Labour and birth education
- Early postpartum education
- with many questions answered.

- Shared maternity Care
With Monash Health
Shared care is a popular choice for women who are healthy, with a normal/low risk pregnancy.
Scheduled visits occur throughout pregnancy, between Intrinsic Midwifery and the Shared Care Clinics at Monash Health (Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital and Monash Medical Centre).
Visits occur from early to late pregnancy, with extra visits as required, including a birth planning visit. Labour, birth and the early postpartum period, will occur at your hospital of booking, with postnatal care at home with Intrinsic Midwifery, if you desire.
Visits with Intrinsic Midwifery normally last 1-1.5 hours each (minimum 40mins) and include:
- Assessment of Mum and Baby
- Pregnancy education
- Labour and birth education
- Early postpartum education
- with many questions answered
- Medical review as required
When choosing shared care with Intrinsic Midwifery, you can see Fiona throughout your pregnancy, with visits occurring in your own home, and have pregnancy, birth and postnatal education explained as you require/questions arise. In shared maternity care your labour, birth and immediate postnatal care are managed by the staff at your booking hospital. Once you head home post birth, Fiona will attend to you and your baby at home, for regular check ups, feeding support, weighs etc, for up to 6 weeks.

- Postnatal Care
Appointments from birth to 6 weeks.
Early visits may be daily/2nd daily post birth, with weekly appointments following, up to 6 weeks & 6 days.
Visits normally lasting 1-1.5 hours each & include:
- Assessment of Mum and Baby
- Postnatal education
- Breastfeeding support & education
- Support with baby care and education
- Birth debrief
- with many questions answered.
$150 per visit

More on Medicare Rebates
Appointments with Fiona will be eligible for Medicare rebates (not applicable to education only appointments). If you have a Medicare card and are referred from a GP able to provide antenatal care, then rebates will be applied. The amount of the rebate will depend on your family situation.
